Takashi Murakami & Daisy Lowe takes on Louis Vuitton’s S/S 2010

February 28, 2010

A partnership of Takashi Murakami and Louis Vuitton has resulted in a  new playful and vibrant collection for Spring Summer 2010/2011. The collection includes tote bags, sarongs and towels. Murakami’s take on this new young-chic collection is rather refreshing since its targeting at LV’s young audiences which to me seemed like a targeted audience marketing (Daisy Lowe as the face of the collection – it’s a young audience alright!)- which I think it’s great. Having said that, the collection seemed like an old collection off of Quicksilver’s female counterpart, Roxy.

When a successful internationally known fashion house like Louis Vuitton is compared to a surfing brands like Roxy, am not quite sure whether it is a good thing or bad. The designs seemed rather similar, but prolly this is due to the play of the colour pink and colourful floral prints. I am not being  negative about the collection, but rather just observation from a consumer’s point of view. Well, but surely, the millions of LV’s customers (young or old) will be purchasing this collection anyways.
